I don’t live in Carmel, and even I know that when it comes to CarmelFest, people are serious about their parade spots. You start seeing tarps, tents, chairs and more on the side of the road days in advance.

But, a new ordinance is aiming to stop that. If passed, people would only be allowed to use lawn chairs to reserve spots. And they won’t even be allowed to do that until 6 AM the day before the parade.

Additionally, the city would be able to impound any property set out before the allotted time according to CBS 4. Some residents and businesses welcome the change, while other say they don’t mind the spot reserving. It’s considered tradition.
