The American Heart Association, along with its Start! partner, J.D. Byrider, is asking companies and individuals to participate in National Start! Eating Healthy Day on Wednesday, November 4. National Start! Eating Healthy Day was designated to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and making smart eating decisions to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, which continue to be the No. 1 and No. 3 killers in the U.S. Companies can celebrate National Start! Eating Healthy Day by serving only healthy foods in the cafeteria, turning off vending machines for the day or adding healthy options to them, or serving healthy snacks at a meeting. Individuals can participate by bringing their lunch to work in order to control what they eat and save money in the process, finding a healthy recipe and preparing it for family or friends, or stopping at the grocery store to stock up on healthy foods.
