I was named for Jerry Garcia & my favorite song is Truckin’. I was born in the wrong generation-cause I’m a real Grateful Dead fan! When I arrived at the HSHC in March 2010 I was a little puppy and I only weighed 12 pounds. You could see every bone in my body. I had been seized from my owner who did not take care of me. He even cropped my ears really short-ouch!
I spent 5 months with my foster mom where I learned many new skills, played with my two-legged foster siblings and a Mastiff-Shar Pei mix and found out that I have way too much energy for kitties-I don’t know how to play gently enough with them. I am very playful and can get overly excited when playing with toys. I take treats very gently. I’m a bit bossy so I need an owner who can put me in my place. Once I know who is really the boss, I know how to behave. However, little dogs are too much of a temptation for me to bully around.
You could also call me Zany!
I’m a madcap, enthusiastic, “bull-in-a-china-shop” kind of fellow! I am curious, lively, excited most of the time and FRIENDLY! I have never met a stranger and I figure everyone I meet is ready to play hard. Since I weigh 53 pounds, not everyone I meet wants to play hard with me! I was found roaming around in Carmel the day after the 4th of July. I am not yet neutered.
I am about 2 years old, a red (with a smidge of white) red-nosed American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I am energetic and I don’t always know my own strength. So I am perfect for an active family with kids 10 and older. If you give me enough exercise, I’ll be glad to veg out on the couch with the fam. You must be 21 to adopt me and willing to give me the consistency, socialization and exercise I need to be a happy well-adjusted dog. Adopt me for $40 during the month of March
