If you want to grill a steak like a pro this weekend….follow these six tips.
Tip #! DO NOT leave your steak in the fridge until you’re ready to grill. The steak should be room temperature so that it cooks more evenly. I know it sounds strange, but if the head chef at Delmonico’s steakhouse in New York says it’s key…do it!
Tip #2 Make sure the grill is HOT. Should be a no-brainer…never put meat onto a cold grill.
Tip #3 Don’t be afraid of over seasoning. Unlike hamburgers (which can dry out if you season them too soon) steaks NEED it. Go to town…season both sides…then season it AGAIN when you pull it off the grill
Tip #4 Don’t leave it directly over the flame. You want to get a good char, but after both sides are charred, move that bad boy to a corner of the grill so the outside doesn’t burn while the inside cooks.
Tip #5 Don’t press down on it with a fork or spatula. Any meat that you grill…seriously. Don’t do it or I’ll come over and slap you upside the head!
Tip #6 Don’t serve it straight from the grill. The meat needs time to rest so that juices can re-distribute. Depending on the size, you’ll want to let it rest 5-10 minutes.
Bon Appetit!! Now you’re cooking!!
Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend…and GO IRISH!!!
