Part 2: Jay DeMarcus Wonders if Daughter Knows About Him

Jay DeMarcus’ book, “Shotgun Angles: My Story of Broken Roads and Unshakeable Hope,” is in stores now.

The big revelation in the book is that he and a former girlfriend had a baby that they gave up for adoption.

Jay says “Abortion was never an option, so we began to discuss adoption. There was no interest in the two of us somehow working things out so we might raise our child together.”

Jay’s mother offered to raise the baby, but the girlfriend said no.  Quote, “From the very beginning, I wanted to be in [my baby’s life.]  But her mother didn’t want either one of us in her life.  That was a hard pill to swallow.”

He’d love to meet his daughter, but it’s not in his hands.  Quote, “The adoptive family was supposed to give her a letter when she turned 14, explaining that I loved her, didn’t abandon her, and have tried several ways to make it possible to be in her life.”

This happened when he was in his early 20s, before Rascal Flatts. He married his wife Allison in 2004.  They have two kids:  Eight-year-old Madeline, and Dylan, who is six.
