If you’re looking to add a furry family member should visit Indianapolis Animal Care Services before the end of May. The animal shelter, located at 2600 S. Harding St., is offering $5 pet adoptions for the entire month.  After receiving 79 new animals on May 9, the shelter has reached full capacity. The $5 adoption fee includes spay or neuter for the pet, microchip, vaccinations and heartworm testing for dogs. The shelter requires an application process before adopting any pets. New pet owners must be at least 21 years. If you already own a pet, proof of current rabies vaccinations is required. Renters must bring a copy of the lease agreement or landlord’s telephone number to verify the home can have pets. Indianapolis Animal Care Services recommends arriving at least an hour before closing to complete any necessary paperwork and meet the adoptable animals. To view animals available for adoption, visit the shelter’s PetFinder site. For shelter hours or more information, visit iacs.indy.gov.
