Wing Deals for National Chicken Wing Day

I love Buffalo wings.  Seriously, I could eat my weight in them.  Today is National Chicken Wing Day, a day to celebrate this amazing food that is good for lunch, dinner, game day, or even cold the next morning when you’re hungover.  Oh, yes… I DO love chicken wings.

Did you know?

  • The record for most wings eaten is 444 wings in 26 minutes, set by Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti during the 2015 Wing Bowl. Molly Schuyler came in a close second with 444 wings.
  • The Pacific region currently consumes the least amount of wings, while the South consumes the most amount of wings in the country.
  • The average American eats 90 chicken wings a year. We can certainly aim to be above average, right?
  • Americans consume 1.25 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday alone, which would circle the Grand Canyon 120 times. Now that’s a lot of chickens!
  • Ranch is, no surprise, the most popular dipping sauce for chicken wings, but bleu cheese coming in a close second.
  • Due to the amount of chicken wings consumed on Super Bowl Sunday, the price of chicken wings rises surrounding the Super Bowl.
  • Hooters sells more than 30 pounds of chicken wings each year. Everyone goes there for the food right?
  • One chicken wing usually contains about 141 calories, without sauce. Better be hitting the gym the next day!
  • The average American can eat 12 chicken wings in one sitting. Again, strive for above average on this one.
  • The National Buffalo Wing Festival is held each year in Buffalo, New York and usually attracts an average of 800,000 people.
  • People living in Seattle are 17 percent less likely to eat chicken wings than the average resident of top 42 U.S. markets. What gives, Seattle?
  • If you weighed 1.25 billion chicken wings, they would weigh 5,955 times more than the weights of the Seahawks’ and Patriots’ entire 52-man rosters combined.

Today on this National Chicken Wing Day, many eateries are celebrating by passing great deals onto wing lovers like us.
