We walked with heavy hearts upon learning that our friend, John Andretti, passed away at the young age of 56, following his battle with colon cancer. If you didn’t know John personally, let us take a moment to share.
John was a genuine soul.
We knew when we first met John that he was something special. Someone who put others first, who truly listened when you spoke, who was more concerned about being ‘interested’ than ‘interesting.’ John was that person whose heart was bigger than he was, who found joy in paying it forward, whether it was to his family, racing fans, or the kids at Riley Hospital for Children.
John was a giver. It’s who he was, and he left a footprint where ever he traveled.
All of us at 95.5 WFMS are truly better people to have known such a selfless individual as John. He taught us the true meaning of philanthropy and courage. He embodied grit in every sense of the word. He was the kind of rare friend everyone should have in life.
John, we wave the checkered flag in your honor for how you lived your life. You certainly ran a well-fought race.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family, the racing community, and all of those who loved John, who was a gift to so many.
