The quarantine has been a new normal that none of us want to get used to living under, though we also understand the importance of staying home. That being said, our family of four can sometimes feel like we’re sitting on top of each other.
As in, literally.
I even rearranged the living room furniture to accommodate a Mom, Dad and two growing teenaged, young men who seem to think they can only lie horizontally when relaxing. Something had to give, so when Greg asked me to go on a bike ride, I didn’t hesitate.
Okay, that’s not true.
I hesitated for a moment, because I can’t recall the last time we went on a bike ride. We later agreed that it had likely been 5 or 6 years since we had pulled our bikes down from the ceiling hooks in our garage and aired up the tires. Still, I quietly wondered if this was Greg’s idea of a ‘Date Night’ since we can’t really go anywhere, and was impressed with his efforts to think outside the box to be romantic. (Romantic he is not, and he’s the first to admit it.)
Shoes were laced and we were about to hit the road, when Greg realized his handlebars had a screw loose (kind of like his wife), so he dug through his rarely-used tool box to find what he needed. Minutes later, it was repaired and we walked our bikes to the end of our drive. I was excited to get some fresh air doing an activity that we hadn’t tried in so long.
Suddenly, I heard Greg say something, but it wasn’t clear. ‘What did you say,’ I asked? Greg looked me directly in the eye and said, ‘You have a BOOGER.’
