These Are The Happiest Songs, According To Science

We can all agree that 2020 hasn’t put us in the happiest of moods, which is why one researcher went out of his way to find the world’s happiest songs based on science!

According to MentalFloss, a Dutch neuroscientist surveyed English and Irish citizens and found that the average beats per minute of a happy song is between 140 and 150 beats per minute and had lyrics about “positive events” or romantic experiences.

The neuroscientist then turned this into a formula to rank songs based on the “happiness-index.” Here were the five songs they found to make people the happiest:

  1. ‘Don’t Star Now’ by Queen
  2. ‘Dancing Queen’ by Abba
  3. ‘Good Vibrations’ by The Beach Boys
  4. ‘Uptown Girl’ by Billy Joel
  5. ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor
