The Indianapolis 500 is just days away, on Sunday, May 29. As always, there will be a slew of celebrities in attendance, some participating in activities before, during and after the race.

Each year, an honorary starter is chosen to wave the green flag. In the past, the honor has gone to actors like Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine and Milo Ventimiglia. In 2022, “Top Gun: Maverick” star, Miles Teller, will have the privilege of starting the race.

Miles is no stranger to action-packed roles, and waving the green flag for the 33 drivers racing for history will provide him with a similar adrenaline-fueled experience. We’re happy to welcome him to ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ for a day he’ll never forget.”

Before Teller performs his flag-waving duty, Girl Named Tom will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Jordan Fisher will take on the national anthem.
