Elvis Licensing Company Wants To Ban Likeness In Vegas

Elvis Wedding Chapel Las Vegas

When I think of Las Vegas, a few things come to mind: gambling, concerts and quickie marriages. But fast weddings in little white chapels might never be the same if this cease-and-desist order stands.

American Brands Group—the company that owns the likeness of Elvis Presley—issued a letter to wedding chapels in Las Vegas last month prohibiting them from using Elvis in wedding ceremonies, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Kent Ripley is the co-owner of Elvis Weddings, and a Presley performer, who has been in the business for 25 years. He said that the chapel has bookings five years out.

“They want to protect the Elvis brand. But what are they protecting by taking Elvis away from the public?”

So far, ABG hasn’t taken any further action. But if you want to have an Elvis wedding in Las Vegas, it’s probably better to get it done sooner rather than later.
