The past several months have been a roller-coaster ride for Alexandria native Joey Martin Feek, She and her husband Rory (Joey+Rory) welcomed their first child into the world in February of 2014. Indiana Boone Feek was born with down syndrome, and at the time, Rory posted on his wonderful blog “This Life I Live” that “We trusted that God would give us the baby He wanted us to have… and He has”
Just a few short months later, Joey was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cervical cancer after a routine gynecological exam. At the time, Rory posted these comments on the couple’s blog:
“When we got home and the news finally sank in, Joey only worried about one thing. It wasn’t “why did this happen to me” or “am I going to be okay”, or a hundred other questions that I would’ve had. Joey only thought of our baby. She cried and cried worrying about Indiana, and what this might mean to her… what if she couldn’t continue breastfeeding her, or will Indy’s sleep schedule be interrupted, or worse yet…what if she won’t get to watch this precious gift grow up?”
Three weeks ago, Joey finished her first round of chemotherapy, and the couple was hopeful that all would be well. Sadly, that joy was short lived. Today Rory shared his latest blog, simply titled “Enough” The cancer is back, and the fight is over. It is in God’s hands.
