What empty nest?
A new survey shows that one-third of all millennials aged 18-34 now live with Mom and Dad. It’s the first time that living at home has outnumbered living with a spouse for this age group since 1980.
The study reveals that the pattern could be a contributing factor in the sluggish growth of the U.S. economy, since more young people living with the ‘rents aren’t needing to buy appliances, furniture or cable subscriptions. Some economists say we simply have more ‘singles,’ who are more likely to live with Mom and Dad.
Not that these millennials are freeloading, some pay rent. Then again, some let Mom do their laundry and enjoy her meatloaf and chocolate cake.
