Taylor Swift is $1 richer, but that lousy dollar isn’t the point.
Taylor stood her ground and fought for what is right, and hopes to inspire other victims of sexual assault. Following the verdict where the jury determined that a Colorado deejay did, indeed, grope Taylor’s bare butt under her skirt during a meet and greet four years ago, Taylor turned to hug her mother and exhaled a sigh of relief. (The deejay’s civil suit for defammation of character was dropped due to lack of evidence.)
The singer later released a statement to the public, saying she wanted to thank ‘her attorneys “for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard,” she said, promising to make unspecified donations to groups that help victims of sexual assault.
Taylor’s attorney also has a message for the public. “It means ‘no means no’ and it tells every woman they will decide what will be tolerated with their body.”
We couldn’t have said it better.
