Indianapolis Animal Care Services Offering Free Adoptions For 800 Pets

December was a good month for Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS). They were able to find homes for 500 animals. However, they still have about 800 in their care currently.

And in an effort to get them new homes in the new year, IACS is offering free adoptions through January 10. They are open from 10 AM – 6 PM today, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. But, they are closed on Tuesday for New Year’s.

You can see all of the available animals here.

If you aren’t ready to adopt a pet, you can foster or volunteer at Indianapolis Animal Care Services.

This girl has been at the shelter for two years…

April May has spent the last two Christmas’s at the shelter in a cold kennel wondering why no one will give her a chance … 12/05/17 – Surrendered for cost, and was emaciated at intake. 03/04/18 – Surrendered for issues with kids and other animals. 05/08/18 – Surrendered due to being allergic. 08/28/19 – Brought in as a stray – called owners who never came back to claim her. 12/23/18 – Surrendered for being too hyper. April May has repeatedly been failed by humans and is DESPERATE to be welcomed into a family that will love her forever and give her a place to call home. She is 10-years-old and loves to play. We recommend her in a home with older kids, no cats, and suggest a meet and greet if you have another dog in the home. Here is what one volunteer had to say about April May on their day out earlier this year … “April May was the best girl today. A few things about her for those that don’t know: 1) she loves being outside and is VERY good on a leash. She also loves being able to see outside, as she sat at our balcony and watched everyone. 2) She needs work understanding that she can lay across the backseat 😂 she kept trying (and struggling) to keep her paws forward and in the middle. And 3) the most important, when she’s outside, she’s not very interested in people, but when she wants can be a mighty good cuddle bug!” Won’t someone PLEASE give this sweet girl a chance at the wonderful life she so desperately deserves. Stop by and meet April May during our adoption hours or share her story to help her find a family that will finally show her the love she deserves.
