NUVO has been a staple in Indianapolis for almost 30 years. But, former editor, Laura McPhee, announced over the weekend that last week’s printed edition would be the publication’s last.

There are “ongoing plans for the web site that will continue to provide local journalism under a new model,” she tweeted on Saturday. It will most likely be an ad-free, member based platform.

McPhee also told the Indy Star, “For the last year, it’s just been about trying not to shut the doors. For at least a year, every week was just us hanging on by our fingernails.”

With the change, many staffers have lost their jobs. NUVO first came on the scene in 1990. It ran weekly until November of 2018 when it switched to bi-weekly.
