Q: What made 1993 Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi’s victory so unique?
A: He drank orange juice ahead of the traditional milk.
In Victory Circle, Fittipaldi broke with tradition by eschewing the usual immediate milk for orange juice, his drink of choice as owner of a 500,000-acre Brazilian orange grove. Some fans booed. The American Dairy Association of Indiana was not happy, either, although Fittipaldi chased the juice with the milk, a 60-year speedway fixture.
Congratulations to today’s Smartest Hoosier Ever, Beth Manion of Indianapolis who knew this and won tickets to Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay. Listen and win again tomorrow at 3:10!
