Another Independence Day has come and gone, though our patriotic loyalty remains no matter the day.
I always love seeing the American flag displayed, whether at a home, a business or ballpark. I loved it even more when my boys, at a young age, placed their hands over their hearts without being asked during the National Anthem as we took in a Cincinnati Reds game, an annual family tradition. So, it is no surprise that I was moved to see my nephew, a curious 10-year-old who knows no stranger, kicking off a game of wiffle ball with the beloved National Anthem, featuring neighbor kids clutching their hearts, with caps removed and some slightly off-tune melodies. Does it get any better? Proud aunt moment! Kudos to their parents, including my sister & brother-in-law, for teaching them well.
These kids clearly understood the assignment. #Merica’ ~Deb
